Have you noticed the recent weather change, the darker days and crisper nights? That means one thing – fall is coming! Fall is my favourite season. The weather is cool and we’re surrounded by beautiful foliage and warm colours.
I am sure that many of you are thinking about your marketing campaigns for the coming season. Perhaps your designers have started brainstorming ideas. Designers love to stick to their brand colours (after all, consistency is king when it comes to branding), however once in a while, it can be a good idea to try something new. Here are some tips to help you refresh your brand’s colours for fall.
1. Create a fall shade of your brand colour
Fall colours are usually rich and warm but at the same time muted. The general idea is to add more saturation and/or lower the brightness. Here are a couple of examples.
Pantone 156 C on the left is light, more suited to spring. By bringing up saturation to 100, it more closely resembles the colour of fall leaves. Keeping the brightness down will make sure your colour won’t be as luminous as a summer colour.
It’s the same principle here. By bringing up saturation and lowering brightness, you will find your brand’s perfect fall shade.
2. Pairing up with a fall colour
If you don’t like the fall version of your brand colour, pick a fall colour to compliment your brand colours, perhaps one of these.
Or why not take advantage of the fall colours around you. Take a photo on your street or in your local park and use a colour from the image (only if it contrasts nicely with your brand colours of course)!
3. Go wild with a completely new fall colour scheme
If you want to go wild and try something completely new, here are some colour palette suggestions from Design Seeds. Pick one that fits your brand and don’t forget to include your logo somewhere.
