Design Tools We’re Loving Now

One of the funnest things about working in the world of marketing/technology is there never seems to be a shortage of new tools or tricks to try. Here are some of the latest design gadgets and gismos we’ve been trying out lately (and loving).

Adobe Experience Design (XD)

Adobe XD User Experience Design Tool

Adobe’s Experience Design program allows UX designers to design and prototype websites and mobile apps. Though it has a number of exciting, new features, it’s main tools are very familiar and intuitive to us Adobe users so we can jump right in and get creating.

What we love: Repeat grids speed up our design process and interactive prototypes help us better visualize and test the user journey.

A Color Story

A Color Story Photo Editing app for Instagram marketing

This photo-editing app from the lovely team over at A Beautiful Mess helps us take our mobile photography game up a notch. Bright, light, colourful photos are this instagrammer’s dream and A Color Story helps make that happen, no desktop computer required. P.S. It’s still ‘colour’ though.

What we love: Adjusting curves!

The New Google Fonts

Google fonts for web design

Google recently updated their Google Fonts interface to provide a more user-friendly experience. You can type in a different sentence for each font, adjust font weights and sizes and compare your fonts on a (small) selection of light and dark background colours. Once you’ve narrowed down your selection, you can view the font specimen for more information and popular pairings.

What we love: Fun facts! As a nifty little bonus, Google includes a usage chart and a count of the number of times a font was served over the last week.
