Another great year has passed and this means it’s time for the Annual Polar Bear Swim in Vancouver! Last year was our first year and to say the least, it was an invigorating experience (especially if you go in with no idea of what it will feel like). 
We like to think of this annual event as “getting up on the right side of the bed” – but on a larger scale. What better way to start your year, by accomplishing something outside of your comfort zone with amazing people around you? The first thing you do in the morning can determine the tone for the rest of the day. These little challenges are as important as our daily coffees (or double espressos on some days!) to recharge and keep us “cool as a cucumber.”
The more the merrier!
We’re keeping up with the tradition and rallying up an awesome team. For every team member that joins, we will donate $5 to Canadian Cancer Society.
We’ll have some hot cocoa waiting for you on shore. But, you won’t need it; your blood will already be flowing. We’ll also have a draw for a FREE Internet Marketing Makeover. (Stay tuned for details!)

Polar Bear Swim 2011 (91st Annual)
The Vancouver Polar Bear Swim Club is one of the largest and oldest Polar Bear Clubs in the world. Its initial swim was in 1920 when a small number of hardy swimmers took the plunge into English Bay on New Year’s Day. Led by their founder, Peter Pantages, the swim has grown from around 10 swimmers in that year to the record number of 2,128 official entries in 2000.

Happy Birthday…. Cucumber!

As you know, Google is celebrating its 12th birthday today, and we, on the other hand, are celebrating our SECOND anniversary! It’s not as impressive as Google’s, but we are getting there ;) 
This month went by too quick and we did not plan an official celebration, but we do want to take this moment and say THANK YOU to all of our clients, partners and friends for your continued support. Directly or indirectly you all have contributed to our success and we do appreciate it! It would not have happened without YOU!
Thank you again and mark your calendar for next year! We are going to have a REAL birthday party for Cucumber, he deserves it! ;)

Meet Danielle, Our New Marketing Coordinator!

We are very excited to officially welcome the newest member of our team, Danielle!
Danielle will be handling all of our own marketing projects as well as helping with Social Media, Marketing Strategy and PPC (AdWords) for our clients. Welcome aboard, Danielle!

A graduate from the University of British Columbia, Danielle has much experience with design, coordinating social media, marketing strategy, and integrating traditional and online media. What is your most favourite thing about Social Media?
I rarely have enough time to go through all my favourite magazines; Facebook and Twitter has really been my one-stop shops for current events, restaurants, and the newest trends in technology and culture.

Anybody innovative, and passionate about what they do. I like to be equally inspired and work with something completely new.
Personal:
Beautiful places to visit?
Everybody has to see the sunset crossing the Bosporus from the European to the Asian side in Istanbul. I recommend not even looking at a photograph of it, so you’ll be in complete awe when you go visit.
What are you currently reading?
Buyology by Martin Lindstrom and Le Pere Goriot by Balzac.
What is your favorite type of ice-cream?
I used to live in Italy, so now I always side with gelato! My favourite finds were basil and chocolate/pepper.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work under the direction of an Internet marketing specialist in the development and implementation of Social Media, Pay Per Click (PPC) and Organic marketing strategies for a wide variety of clients.
- Implement and expand comprehensive keyword lists manually and/or in bid management tools
- Research and implement reciprocal linking campaigns
- Landing page testing and tracking
- Stay on the cutting edge of trends and techniques in the Internet marketing industry
- Content writing and optimization
- Case studies and white paper creation
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills/Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or diploma from an accredited Canadian or international post secondary institution with specialization in marketing and/or communications

Cucumber is growing! Literally. Meet our newest team member, Joe!
Bio: Joe has a passion for design and front end web development. He has worked in the industry for several years and studied graphic design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He loves seeing the creative merge with the technical to provide a unique solution to a problem. 
Let’s get personal:
Q: What is web design for you?
A: For me, web design is a way of visually communicating ideas and messages effectively through a website. It’s also about delighting both the users and the site owners. It’s not just about making things look pretty, although that is part of it. It’s about helping users and website owners achieve their goals more effectively.
Q: How do you find inspiration?
A: I find inspiration all over the place. Something will just randomly leap out at me most of the time. Whether it’s a piece of art or design, a photograph, or a piece of music, inspiration can come from anywhere, really.
Q: What’s your perfect client/project?
A: My perfect client/project would probably be someone in the publishing or music industry. It would be great to work with a record label and design websites for the artists that they sign. That would be great.
Q: Your favorite travel destination
A: Waikiki, Hawaii
Q: What are you currently reading?
