Welcome to Our New Team Member!

Friday, April 13th, 2012

Cucumber Marketing Inc. has an official new team member! Sarah is a student at the UBC Sauder School of Business and loves all things creative; her role at the Greenhouse is to provide marketing support and Social Media cultivation for our growing clients.

Welcome aboard, Sarah!

Learn more about Sarah:

Screen Shot 2012 04 13 at 2.39.52 PM Welcome to Our New Team Member!

What are you good at?

Writing, staying organized, making things more efficient, making things pretty (there is an artist hiding inside me).

What excites you?

Food. Especially good food – an amazing meal can be life changing (or a box of chocolates).

What is the coolest memory from childhood?

Travelling with my family to South Africa to visit relatives I hardly ever see; we went to Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town and it was amazing.

Who is your “current idol” and why? (music, politics, TV, author?)

I love Seth Godin; I think he has some fantastic ideas and I love his TedTalks videos on marketing – especially “the best thing since sliced bread.”

Favourite book of all times / your current read. Why you love it?

I am slightly obsessed with books/reading but my favourite book would have to be Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close; it possesses this amazing poetic quality and John Safran Foer captured the essence of the main character very well.

How do you stay “cool?”

Staying on top of my life. Things can get stressful but that feeling of accomplishment is priceless.

Cucumber University was Epic!

Friday, April 29th, 2011

So, today we had our first public workshop at Cucumber University. We talked about Social Media Networking / Marketing and how to really GET IT?

The most exciting part for me was when I came up with this acronym. My first, very own official acronym! yay! :) (me and Gary Busey…. ;)

GAP …. In order to succeed in “Social Media’ing” you need to bridge that GAP between YOU and the people you want to reach.

G – Goal
A- Audience
P- Passion

Easy, huh?

1) KNOW your goal. Ask yourself – now what? I have this Twitter account. Now what? What do I want to get out of it.
2) KNOW your audience! (Just like @NourishTea knew their audience Ken – watch this video for details)
3) BRING in your passion to the table. When you are passionate/love about what you do, people will listen to you.

So, bridge that GAP, and good luck!

Here’s a little teaser for you from this “passion” talk. Stay tuned for our upcoming Internet marketing workshops in the near future!

Check out our beautiful students here on Facebook.
