Welcome to Our New Team Member!
Friday, April 13th, 2012
Cucumber Marketing Inc. has an official new team member! Sarah is a student at the UBC Sauder School of Business and loves all things creative; her role at the Greenhouse is to provide marketing support and Social Media cultivation for our growing clients.
Welcome aboard, Sarah!
Learn more about Sarah:

What are you good at?
Writing, staying organized, making things more efficient, making things pretty (there is an artist hiding inside me).
What excites you?
Food. Especially good food – an amazing meal can be life changing (or a box of chocolates).
What is the coolest memory from childhood?
Travelling with my family to South Africa to visit relatives I hardly ever see; we went to Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town and it was amazing.
Who is your “current idol” and why? (music, politics, TV, author?)
I love Seth Godin; I think he has some fantastic ideas and I love his TedTalks videos on marketing – especially “the best thing since sliced bread.”
Favourite book of all times / your current read. Why you love it?
I am slightly obsessed with books/reading but my favourite book would have to be Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close; it possesses this amazing poetic quality and John Safran Foer captured the essence of the main character very well.
How do you stay “cool?”
Staying on top of my life. Things can get stressful but that feeling of accomplishment is priceless.

Want to Master the Art of Persuasion? We’re Giving Away Arlene Dickinson’s Book, Persuasion
Friday, October 14th, 2011
Do your co-workers need to be persuaded to believe your new idea?
Does your son need to be persuaded to do his homework?
Does your significant other need to be persuaded to going to your family reunion?
You may think some people just need a little more persuasion than others, a little more push. But everyday we are consistently persuading everybody around us. This doesn’t just mean getting someone to see your point of view. It’s also about creating real connections, authenticity, honesty, and learning how to sell yourself.
One of our latest reads is Arlene Dickinson’s book Persuasion.
Arlene did not have the easiest life (at 31 she was divorced with four kids and a high school diploma), but since then, she has become the CEO of Venture Communications and now co-host of CBC’s Dragons’ Den.
We are always on the lookout for books that will help us, our businesses and the people around us grow.
Let us know your favourite self-development or business book on our Facebook wall and you could win Arlene Dickinson’s Persuasion.
The winner will be announced next Friday (October 21).
